STUART CUDLITZ ARTIST PROFILE

 
Stuart Cudlitz is an artist, writer, filmmaker and educator.
As an exhibiting multi-media studio artist and a published illustrator, writer and composer he has applied these legacy skills to the design and direction for his work many credits on commercial and independent films and interactive media employing emerging technologies.
As a guest lecturer and adjunct faculty Cudlitz utilizes a professional studio approach to teach curriculum in both MFA and BFA programs with emphasis on techniques in visual thinking, interdisciplinary animation methodology and the integration of traditional arts and narrative techniques across all media.
He is currently writing a book on the relationships between the legacy of traditional art methodology and digital media creation and distribution while continuing to provide creative direction and design solutions for the media, communications and electronics industries.
Recent accomplishments include co-invention of a proprietary patented technology for the storage, retrieval and exchange of personal profile data enabling consistent interpretation across multiple device, applications and data services based on a social networking model.

Formerly creative director for digital media (Colossal)Pictures and Media Concrete (SF).
Education:  Traditional fine arts studio training 1962-1970 in painting, drawing and printmaking media. 1978 B.D.I.C. Five College Program, University of Massachusetts, Amherst with interdisciplinary concentration in Semiotics, Perceptual Psychology, Fine Arts and Filmmaking.
Educator and Lecturer: Currently adjunct faculty at The New School University Parsons School of Art, Media and Technology (MFA and BFA programs) and The School of Visual Arts (BFA Computer Arts program) and previously a lecturer, panelist and guest lecturer and instructor at U.C. Berkeley, San Francisco State University, The San Jose Children's Science Museum, Lawrence Livermore Labs, ACM SIGGRAPH, ITS and the MACWORLD Expositions, The Silicon Graphics Developers Conference and the California Governor's Conference on Technology and the Arts.
Past Accomplishments: Designer of interactive installations for The IBM Research Center (Hawthorne NY) and Co-Designer of Rockplexx (Morphosis/Universal MCA//MTV), Screenings and performances of digital artworks at The Mill Valley Film Festival and The Conservatory of Music at the Hague and designer, director and composer of the Main Video Exhibit and Video Mural Installation at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum (Cleveland Ohio).
Film and television credits include: Special Visual Effects and Animation Design and Direction for The Twilight Zone, Top Gun, Tucker, MTV/Liquid Television, The Cartoon Network, Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Technical Expertise: Digital and optical image compositing, motion capture and performance animation design and direction, graphic user interface designer and director for internet media distribution, interactive educational gaming designs and productions and online and interactive media for the music industry.
Interactive Design and Media 1990-2007: Credits as creative director, lead designer and writer for interdisciplinary prototypes and productions for Hewlett-Packard Labs, IBM, Warner Bros.
